The GOLD Criteria stratifies patients into four groups and specifies initial pharmacological treatments accordingly.

• Classify by GOLD Criteria using Modified Medical Research Council (MMRC), COPD Assessment Test (CAT), and number of exacerbations and hospitalizations
• Patients must see a doctor at least four times per year for COPD management

Based on the results of the MMRC and CAT scores, as well as the patient's exacerbation and hospitalization history, place them into one of the four below quadrants.
